ART DIRECTION - BRANDING - CURATION
“SUMMER, FINALLY” AT THE ANNAPOLIS ART WEEK.
Summer, Finally was a collective pop-up show during the Annapolis Art Week 2025. This is a project I directed completely with my wife. I took the role of Art and Creative Director, Designer and Curator.
We opened the whole week, but there were two main days. On Thursday we were included in the map for the Annapolis Gallery Walk. Then on Saturday, we had a reception with the featured artists. Free event, open to the public. Snacks, Art Talk and Community. The rest of the time, we would be working on site, creating more art and welcoming visitors.
AUDIENCE: City of Annapolis, Arts Community.
concept: summer, finally
Summer in Cuba, for us, was a time to come together to the most special place in Cuban’s imagination: The Beach, and more specifically what we called “la casa en la playa”. A Place to not only foster community but to enjoy a time away together, to party, to fall in love, to be encouraged and rebooted with new strengths for the rest of the year. Also, I feel the need to add that Annapolis winter 2025 was really hard on me. I never longed that much for summer.

annapolis + Summer =
For the brand, I wanted to combine Annapolis, its class and beauty, and summer as a reason for color and celebration. This city comes alive more in the summer, especially in the evenings.
For typography I choose BN Canyon for its post-modern character, both early 20th-century Art Nouveau and contemporary, which increases with a more vertical, less conventional composition.
Black and white as colors for ease of print, a budget friendly solution for a mostly indie show; and a pop of color, miami (summer) inspired pink to add warmth and celebration.
The pink element resembles a sun and also any source of light. The blur effect ended up matching really well both as iconic element and as background.
promo pieces were both printed and shared in our social profiles. we needed to spend as little money as possible in this operation. Coming from cuba we are not new to guerrilla marketing

the show

the process of installing was in it self a collaborative art piece

I created this zine in Collaboration with Amanda Rimmer. More on that in the Creative Projects Page

physical art spaces build community and collaboration.

polarization is harder when we are close to each other

Selling means success for all of us. It's encouragement to keep making art and keep creating art shows.
